Matteo Gualeni aka Missing Ear is a Milan-based experimental drummer and sound designer pushing the boundaries of sound perception. His project focuses on the listener’s active engagement with music in its purest form, where perception itself transforms into both a creative tool and an instrument.

Matteo studied jazz drumming at the conservatory during his undergraduate years and later specialized in electronic music at the Conservatorio di Milano for his master's degree. Alongside his artistic career, he is also an educator, teaching Ableton and advanced synthesis at Accademia del Suono in Milan.

Through Missing Ear, Matteo collaborates with a range of artists and AV designers, including Marco Ciceri, Michael Barteloni, and currently, the motion designer Alessandra Leone. His work spans multiple media, from art and film to audiovisual, immersive, and interactive projects. He has performed at prestigious venues and festivals such as Zeche Zollverein x New Now Festival (UNESCO, DE), Museo Della Permanente (IT), and Dongdaemun Design Plaza (Seoul, KR), sharing stages with artists like Hudson Mohawke (Warp), Afrodeutsche, and LOREM.

Matteo is deeply involved in global music platforms and radio stations such as EOS Radio, Kiosk Radio, RBL, and more. He also hosts a monthly residency, The Missing Ear, on Radio Raheem Milan at Triennale di Milano, curating a space for both emerging and established artists from the international music scene.
